Rich was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, IL. He was also a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, serving for 6 years from 1989 to 1997. Rich enjoyed golfing with friends and coaching his kids in sports.
Rich is survived by his loving wife – Jessica (née, Schulein) Soderlund of Sparta, IL to whom he married on October 10, 1998 in Sparta, IL; mother – Gail (née, Huber) Soderlund of Sparta, IL; three children – Jacob (spouse, Carly) Soderlund of Lake St. Louis, MO, Kaitlyn (Kerry Kloos) Soderlund of Sparta, IL, and Luke Soderlund of Sparta, IL ; three sisters – Lynne (husband, Anthony) Jones of Sparta, IL, Diana (husband, Brian) Casten of Sparta, IL, and Angela (husband, Matthew) Tatum of Highland, IL; two brothers – Robert (wife, Marcie) Soderlund of Sparta, IL and Stephen (wife, Melinda) Soderlund of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law – Tim (wife, Andrea) Schulein of Sparta, IL; father-in-law & mother-in-law – Ralph & Joyce Schulein; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Laurie Soderlund.

The Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, IL on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025 with Father Charles & Father Iuvenis officiating. Committal Services will take place at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL.
