Richard L. Staggs

Richard L. Staggs, 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Richard was born in Muncie on November 9, 1951, the son of Ancil and Florence (Riley) Staggs. He was graduate of Muncie Central High School. He worked at the Ball Stores and later in maintenance at Elgin Manor Apartments.

Richard loved to hunt and fish. Watching westerns was also a favorite pastime. He was a very artistic person, he was very good at drawing and the art of scrimshaw. He enjoyed spending time with family and was also his mother's caretaker in her later years.

Richard is survived by his nieces, Maria (Dannie), Heather (Mike), and Melissa; nephew, Richard; great-nieces and nephews, Hayley, Hadley, Leila, Reilly, Liam, and Tinsley; brother-in-law, Bobby.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth Blankenship.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 1026, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 1026, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, 3100 S. Tillotson Ave., Suite 150, Muncie, IN 47302.
