He was born on May 10, 1959, the son of Gordon R. Burkett and Billie Joan (Scales) Burkett and graduated from Muncie Central High School.
Troy was Plant Supervisor at Duffy Tool prior to his retirement. After retirement, he worked for Concannon's Bakery. He enjoyed NASCAR and being outdoors.
Survivors include his two brothers, Steven Burkett (Brenda) and Bryan Burkett; longtime companion, Renee Coats; aunt, Marilyn Scales; uncle, Bill Scales; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
