Richard Stuter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Guss Funeral Home, Inc. on May 9, 2023.
Richard K. "Rick" Stuter, 78, of Mifflintown died Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Brookline Manor.
Born Jan. 23, 1945 in Lewistown and raised in Belleville, he was the only child of the late John R. and Anna Mildred "Millie" Genevieve (Kauffman) Stuter.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dolli (Reichenbach) Stuter, whom he married Oct. 27, 1966, one daughter, Amy M. Reed and husband, Matthew, of Harrisburg, and one granddaughter, Olivia A. Reed.
He graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1962 and joined the Air Force for a short period of time in 1964. He later furthered his education by graduating from HACC in 1994 and from Penn State in 1996. He enjoyed sharing classes with his daughter who was pursuing her degree, also in social work, at the same time.
Rick's calling in life was helping those who were less fortunate. He was a social worker who worked throughout central Pennsylvania, was the homeless coordinator for Dauphin County, and was instrumental in starting the Friendship Club in Juniata County.
He also worked at Handy Markets in Mifflintown in the early 70's into the 80's.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown.
He enjoyed going for rides in his jeep, walking and woodworking. In the words of his granddaughter, "Pap had a rambunctious spirit." His family was extremely important to him and his daughter and granddaughter were the loves of his life. He was especially proud of Olivia for writing and publishing the book, "The Wheelchair Astronaut."
Following Rick's wishes, he is being cremated and there will be no service at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059
