SWIFT, Richard James, age 84 of Davison, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. A Funeral Service will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Michigan 48423; Pastor Alan Duce officiating. A Memorial Service under the Auspices of the Masonic Swartz Creek Lodge #458 will be held at 6 PM on Monday.
Richard graduated from Flint Central High School in 1959. On June 15, 1963, he married Janet (Crampton) Swift, spending 62 years together. They built a family characterized by warmth, support, and enduring bonds. Richard worked for General Motors, as an Operation's Manager having been assigned to the AC Spark Plug, Saturn, Delco Electronics, and Delphi Divisions. He retired after thirty years of dedicated service, working from 1965 to 1995. His commitment and work ethic inspired all who knew him. As a member of Richfield Church of the Nazarene, Richard's faith guided his actions and strengthened his ties to the community. He was a Lifetime Member of the Free & Accepted Masons (Swartz Creek #458), a member of the Eastern Stars (Linden #175), and a longtime supporter of Michigan Job's Daughters International. His steadfast service and generosity touched many lives and reflected his commitment to making a difference. Richard's life was marked by the love he gave and the values he cherished. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all those blessed to have known him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Janet (Crampton); their children: Richard W (Christine) Swift, Shelly (Richard) Hill, and Cynthia (Jerry) Gates; grandchildren: Steven Hill, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Hill, Erica (Jacob) Kuckenbecker, Dana Swift, Zoe Dixon, Ellie Dixon; and great-grandchildren: Henry Hill, Austin (Bri) Driskill, and Alex Driskill as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard's devotion to his family was evident in the love he shared with each generation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard K and Lillian M (Baxter) Swift, grandchildren: George Dixon and Julie (Hill) Driskill; and siblings Roy Swift, Ed Swift, Bob Swift, and Evelyn Voelck. The family fondly remembers those who have passed, holding their memory close.
We sincerely thank Dr. Theresa Sherman-Gach for her dedicated care of Richard for over 20 years. We additionally wish to thank Compassus Hospice Care, especially Joyce, Kelly, and Angie, for their compassionate support during this difficult time.

It is difficult to say goodbye to the one person you have known since childhood (even before kindergarten). We lived on the same street, five houses apart and our birthdays were five days apart, born the same year. The heart is heavy. Prayers are for Janet, the love of his life, and for the family. Dick, I will see you on the other side.
