Richard Darrel Timm, age 74, proud worker and painter, died on August 4, 2022 in Provo, Utah due to complications resulting from COVID 19.

Richard was born to Eugene W. and Mabel Estella Sims Timm, on November 15,1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Richard was the youngest of four children. He lived on the Utah West Desert until he was 8 years old at which time he and the family moved to Provo, Utah. Richard graduated from Provo High school. In the summer of 1967, Richard, moved to Humboldt County California where he met his wife to be, Linda Mae Handy. In January of 1968, Richard was drafted into the army serving in Vietnam. In May of 1969, Richard returned on leave to Humboldt County, and on June 14, 1969, he and Linda were married in Blue Lake, California. Richard and his new wife moved to Newport Virginia where he finished his tour of duty. Richard was honorably discharged in December of 1975. After his military service Richard wanted nothing more than to return home to Callao, Utah. Making a home in the desert they both loved, Richard and Linda raised seven sons.

Richard first was involved in hard rock mining for precious metals - tungsten, gold, silver. In the 1980s he began assisting several ranchers in the area in taking care of their herds. In 1997, Richard and Linda decided to move back to northern California where he would work on a large dairy ranch, but missing their desert home, they moved back to Callao in 2007.

Richard Timm loved painting his mountains, the Deep Creeks. Richard loved reading, storytelling and animals. His greatest joy besides painting was being a father and grandfather. Living on the desert meant that he could share his love of nature with his family and friends. His favorite place was Red Cedar, where the family hiked many times over the years.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; beloved daughter: Amber Timm; and his niece: Lynnette Buttars. He is survived by his sisters: Doris Timm, Helen Sorensen, and Barbara Quiroz; wife: Linda; and seven sons: Arnold Timm, Rikki Timm, Isaac Timm, Paul Timm, Pete Smith, Jake Peterson, and Scott Jones. These children have gone onto further expand the family with many cherished grandchildren and treasured great-grandchildren.

In remembrance of Richard, his family encourages adopting a dog or cat and giving them a people name.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 13, at 11:00am, at the Richard and Linda's Home in Callao. A Viewing will be held, 9:30-10:40am, prior to service. Friends unable to attend are invited to view the recorded video of the Service. The link will be posted with his obituary at www.nicklemortuary.com by Saturday evening. Richard, Linda and the boys took me in when I was a kid. Richard and my West Desert Family always took care of me and treated like I was. king. I always looked Richard as my Dad. He was kind, a hard worker and a provider and one excellent man. Richard taught me kindness, love, hard work and the importance of school. Richard would take me and Arnold running at night. He really pushed us. Our goal was to beat him.. He made sure we earned very mile we ran. Richard taught me a lot about life. He always led by example. There is not a day that does not go by that I don't think about my Richard,Linda the boys, Ed Alder and my West Desert Family. They say it takes a tribe to raise kids... I was raised by the best family a kid could ask for. I have spent my life serving, working, mentoring and fostering the lost Pete's of the world. It's been my passion, and calling. The Timm, Bates, and the Alder families taught me to pay it forward! I have done that many times over and still
do. I am a retired 2x USA WORLD CHAMPION and 49 time USA World Championship coach. None of that would have been possible to accomplish with out the examples of Richard and my West Deseret Families. Today, I work for "Roads To Independence Independence," A Disability Service Center. I work as a Traumatic Brain Injury Specialist. I also teach Self Defense to the disabled community as well as the private sector. I have a heart full of emotion and I can't stop crying. Rest In Peace Sir! You are missed and I will see you in heaven one day. Man, Do I look forward to that!
