Richard Timmons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chandler Funeral Home - Ellettsville Chapel on Jan. 7, 2026.
Richard "Rick" Allan Timmons, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 3rd, 2026, in Bloomington, Indiana.
Rick was born on February 5th, 1950, in Anaheim, California, to Joanna "Joy" Timmons and Donald Timmons Sr. He attended Calaveras High School. Following high school, Rick enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in the 173rd Airborne Infantry from 1969 to 1971, including active service in Vietnam. Rick married Colleen Loukianoff, and together they had two daughters, Melanie and Crystal.
After his military service, Rick built a career as a heavy machinery mechanic. Those who knew him best would say there was very little he could not fix. After enduring many personal challenges and hardships, Rick chose a new path-one rooted in faith and devotion to family. In 2014, he moved to Ellettsville, Indiana, where he found a renewed sense of purpose, deepened his relationship with Jesus, and later married Linda Timmons in 2015.
Rick was known for his big personality and loud sense of humor, and he was a friend to everyone he met. He also had a deep passion for Jesus and for riding motorcycles, and he was blessed to combine both through his church, House of Prayer. Alongside fellow church members, he enjoyed riding, volunteering, and sharing the message of Christ. He served in several church ministries, including Unchained Gang and J Kids Camp, among others. Rick also shared joy through music and was rarely without his harmonica, which he played passionately.
Rick is survived by his wife, Linda Timmons; his daughters, Melanie (Arlin) and Crystal (John); and his grandchildren, Ethan (Amanda), Eli (Amy), Rylie and Lotti.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Larry and Donald, and his grandson, Bailey.
Rick will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend-an unwavering servant of God whose life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating Rick's life will be held on January 10th, 2026, at House of Prayer in Ellettsville, Indiana. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
