SPENCER: Richard L. Vandale,92, formerly of Spencer, died Thursday, Nov. 28, in Laurentide Assisted Living, Mashpee.He was the husband of Madeline R. (Aucoin) Vandale who died in 2022. He leaves his sons; Richard P. Vandale and his wife Marcy of Cotuit and John D. Vandale and his wife Stephanie of Lexington, his daughters; Susan A. Lilly and her husband Kevin of Cotuit, and Jeanne M. Lloyd and her husband Kenneth of Milton, 8 grandchildren; Nicole, Zachary, Emily, Erin, Jonathan and his wife Alexa, Jared, Charlotte and Elise. He is predeceased by his grandson; Justin Lloyd in 2017.
Dick was a liquor salesman for Atlas Distributors retiring in 1992.
He was born in Spencer, the son of Leo and Lorette (Perron) Vandale and graduated from David Prouty High in Spencer and attended Assumption College on a basketball scholarship. Dick was an avid golfer. Along with his wife, Madeline, they wintered in Vero Beach Florida for many years.
He served his country with the US Airforce during the Korean War. Private funeral services were held in the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer followed his services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of his grandson, Justin Lloyd, c/o Thayer Academy, www.thayer.org/support.
