Richard VanDuyn Obituary

Richard VanDuyn

December 31, 1955 - August 6, 2025

Richard VanDuyn, 69 years old, of Kenosha, Wis., passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.

He was born December 31, 1955, in Kenosha, Wis., the son of the late Clarence and Catherine (Colter) VanDuyn. On December 11, 1982, Richard married Kathy Terpstra in Kenosha, Wis.

Richard worked for American Motors, Kenosha, Wis., Commonwealth Edison, Zion, Ill., and most recently, EMCO Chemical Distributors, Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

He loved taking photos of the people and things surrounding him, and then sharing those photos. Richard was an avid football fan; he enjoyed rooting for the Green Bay Packers, but his truly favorite team was the Kansas City Chiefs. Fishing and boating were also among his favorite hobbies, especially with his sons, Brian and Kurt, and family and friends.

Richard mostly cherished time with his grandson, Cash. Richard will be remembered for always giving out $2 bills.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 43 years, Kathy; sons, Brian VanDuyn and Kurt (Ryann) Lindstrom; siblings, David Haddix, Leonard (Liz) VanDuyn, and Paul (Laura) VanDuyn; his beloved grandson, Cash Lindstrom; nieces and nephews, Lelena Ziegelbauer, Kaitlin VanDuyn, Mark VanDuyn, Jeffrey VanDuyn, Amanda Turner and Milos Kuzmic; and great-nieces and nephews, Jared, Grace, Macie, Jax and Leo.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by siblings, Steve Haddix, Terry Haddix, and Mark VanDuyn.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral services and remembrances with family and friends will commence at 4 p.m. Please wear casual clothing, and/or your favorite sports gear, as Richard would have requested. Interment will take place privately in St. James Cemetery, Kenosha, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in his memory.
