Richard or Rick as he was affectionately called, was born on December 12, 1956, in
Owosso, Michigan, to Gale and Carol (Bullard) Varco, and his life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and service. Richard attended school in Owosso, where he laid the foundation for a life full of adventure and dedication. It was during these formative years that he met the love of his life, Connie Taylor, while out with friends. Their love blossomed, leading them to exchange vows in Las Vegas on September 1, 1990, a union that would be filled with travel, joy, and mutual respect.
Rick's career began when he was younger at the Eagles in Owosso, where he set pins, and he was a proud past member of the club. However, his professional journey truly flourished when he joined the automotive industry which led him to become a mechanic. His skill and passion for diesel mechanics were evident to all who worked with him, and he eventually became the past owner and operator of Owosso Truck Service. Through his business, Rick served his community with excellence, extending a helping hand to many and leaving a legacy of hard work and reliability.
Family was the cornerstone of Rick's life. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Richard Varco, Jr., Tera (Isaac) Ragan, and Autumn Romanczuk; his adored grandchildren, Dante Barton, Dustin Varco, Sophia Ragan, Brooklyn (Varco) Dennis, Lauryn Ragan, Micah Ragan, Anna Ragan, and Maxwell Ragan; and his siblings, Debbie (Doug) Meyers, Patti Borton, Vicky Burl, and Robbie (Holly) Burl. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss his humor and guidance. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Connie; his son Taylor Varco; granddaughter, Brandi Varco, and brother, Gregory Varco.
In his younger days, Rick was an avid hunter and fisherman, reveling in the tranquility and challenge of the great outdoors. He and Connie shared a passion for travel, often embarking on trips that included their favorite pastime of visiting casinos. Those who knew Rick understood his meticulous nature, which was evident in the pristine condition of his home and yard-a testament to his attention to detail and pride in his surroundings.
Rick's sense of humor was legendary, a trait that brought light into every room. He was also incredibly handy, always ready to fix a problem or build something new with his skilled hands. He and Connie enjoyed singing karaoke with friends which would always bring about many shenanigans.
The world was brighter with Richard Jay Varco in it, and his absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him. He was a man of integrity, warmth, and boundless humor, touching lives in countless ways. His life was marked by devotion to his family, service to others, and an unwavering spirit of adventure.
