HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Peter John Varco, 35, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on December 23, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Peter was born on August 19, 1989 in Rhinebeck. After graduating from John Jay High School, he attended Dutchess Community College followed by Mount St Mary College where he studied business. After college he became a butcher by trade and loved learning new things whenever he could. Peter loved working with his hands and he was so smart. He could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. Above all, he loved his family.
Peter enjoyed volunteering for Hunters Helping the Hungry and at Stony Kill Foundation where he could use his skills and give back to his community.
Peter's family and friends will always remember him for his kindness and patience. He was always up for a good laugh. He is survived by his mother, Helen (Wagner) Nichols; his father, Peter A. Varco and his wife Janine; his partner, LuTena Davis and her son Lennex; his siblings and their spouses, Heather and Andrew Bush and Bryan and Jenn Conti; his nieces and nephews who thought the world of him and he loved beyond measure, Madelyn, Nathaniel, Luca, Savannah, and Grayson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his furry companion, Xena, the Warrior Princess.
Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, January 3rd from 3 - 7 pm with a funeral service at 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hunters Helping the Hungry or at Stony Kill Foundation.
