Richard "Rich" Vellucci, son of the late Frank and Cecelia Vellucci was born December 3, 1971 in Rochester, MI. He attended Lake Orion Community Schools from kindergarten through high school graduating in 1990. He was the 1990 Class "A" 145lb Individual State Champion and a member of the only state title winning team in Lake Orion wrestling history.
He met his soulmate in Colette and they were married on July 23, 2005. Together they built a home and welcomed two amazing sons, Anthony and Niko. He was a devoted husband and father and was happiest when he was with his family. Whether it was rolling around on the living room floor teaching the boys wrestling technics or going on one of their many family vacations as long as he was doing something with his boys, he couldn't be happier. He never missed one of his boys sporting events and wouldn't hesitate to fill in coaching at the wrestling meets and give pointers to all the wrestlers on the team.
He became a master electrician and started Vellucci Electric in 2003. He was a proud Lake Orion Alumni and community member and continued to support and help out in anyway he could. He was generous with both his time and money when it came to helping his community.
He is survived by his wife Colette; sons Anthony and Niko; brothers Frank (Mary), Peter (Jeni), Ray (Lisa) and Rick Vellucci. Father-in-law Jim Duperron; mother-in-law Joan (Don) Haag; sister-in-law Shawnae (Gary) Saylor and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank and Cecelia Vellucci and brother-in-law David Duperron.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Dragon Foundation for the Rich Vellucci Outstanding Wrestler Scholarship Fund that will be awarded to a Lake Orion High School wrestler. Donations can be mailed to The Dragon Foundation 33 N. Broadway Lake Orion, MI 48362.
