Richard Levi Walker Jr., 53, passed away on June 17, 2023, at Atrium Health - Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, following a brief illness. Richard was born May 12, 1970, in Richmond, VA, to the late Richard Walker Sr. and Barbara Smith Walker. He graduated from South Stokes High School in 1988.
Richard was a cherished husband, proud father and Paw Paw, and a loyal friend. One of Richard’s favorite pastimes was making people laugh, and he was blessed with a sharp wit and a wicked sense of humor that entertained everyone he met. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family, spending time outdoors, collecting firearms, cooking new recipes, and trying to find his new favorite restaurant.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sisters, Tonya Walker and Angela McKirdy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jana; son, Richard Levi Walker III (Kendra); grandson, Noah; brother, Shawn Walker; nephew, Catlin Morgan (Nacole) and family; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Redemption Hill Church - Salem Park location in Winston-Salem with Pastor Matt Meers officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the National Kidney Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
