Richard Warnick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Home-Keyser Chapel on Dec. 25, 2025.
Richard Allen Warnick, 77, of New Creek, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at WV Caring Hospice in Elkins, West Virginia.
Richard was born on January 19, 1948 in Shaw, WV to the late Clarence Raymond and Margaret Elizabeth (Watkins) Warnick. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Donald, and Ronald Warnick and his sisters, Emma White and Betty Warnick.
Richard graduated from Elk Garden High School in 1966 and later went on to have a fulfilling career with the Laborer's International Union, Local 616 in Cumberland, Maryland, from which he retired. He was a diligent worker, always dedicating himself to any task at hand, and was greatly respected by his colleagues.
Known for his love of auctions, Richard could often be found bidding on interesting finds. He had a knack for spotting the hidden gems among the ordinary, and his lively spirit made him a familiar face at many local auctions. His other passion was his 1952 Dodge pickup, which he restored with meticulous care. He took great joy in working on his beloved truck, spending countless hours ensuring every detail was perfect.
He is survived by his brothers, Harry Warnick of Mount Storm, WV, and Ralph Warnick of New Creek, WV; his sisters, Elizabeth "Peg" Chambers of Winter Park, FL, and Carolyn Thomson of Churchville, MD; and his cherished girlfriend, Peggy V. Sherwood.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Mount Storm Cemetery on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leslie Hipp officiating.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
