Richard William Weber

Richard William “Rick” Weber passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at his home in Hyde Park, Utah, surrounded by those he loved. He was 67 years old, just a couple of months shy of his 68th birthday in May.

Rick was born on May 3, 1958, to Beverly and Richard “Dick” Weber. Entering the world with a cleft palate, Rick spent the first 12 weeks of his life in the hospital and became something of a pioneer patient for new and evolving plastic surgeries to repair the condition. Some of his earliest memories were of hospital halls and recovery rooms, where his charm and warm personality quickly made him a favorite among the nurses. Throughout his life he underwent surgeries about every five years as he grew, and pain and hospitals were familiar companions. Yet Rick faced these challenges with humor, resilience, and a deep appreciation for life.

Rick spent his early years in and around Iowa City, Iowa, surrounded by his mother’s large extended family. In 1972, Rick moved to North Logan, Utah, In 1974 he met his lifelong best friend, Chad. The two were known for driving around in winter storms, helping people who had slid off snowy roads—a small example of Rick’s lifelong instinct to serve others.

During his teenage years, Rick and his brother Duane became well known in local church fast-pitch softball leagues as “the Weber Boys.” Rick caught while Duane pitched, and they practiced together year-round.

Rick served a mission for the LDS Mission to Minnesota. During his college years, Rick worked as a manager and trainer with the baseball, basketball, and football teams. These experiences provided a wealth of stories about athletes, teammates, and the many cultures and personalities he met—stories he loved sharing throughout his life. Rick was a natural storyteller, and he delighted in recounting the colorful personalities and experiences he encountered along the way.

Rick met the love of his life, Debi, on Old Main Hill. Rick and Debi were married in the Logan Utah Temple in December 1986. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with five children: Natalie, Nicholas, Nolan, Douglas, and Katrina. Rick was immensely proud of his children and loved them deeply.

Throughout his life, Rick touched countless lives through his church service and his career as a teacher. Rick and Debi’s life together included many moves and adventures. They lived in Fontana, California for 15 years, Enterprise, Utah for 10 years, and the Salt Lake Valley for 5 years before finally returning to Cache Valley—30 years after they had left. Returning had always been the plan; it simply took a few more stops along the way than expected.

Despite the many surgeries and physical challenges he faced throughout his life, Rick always considered himself blessed. He held a strong and unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the restored gospel. He often expressed a sense of kinship with Joseph Smith, who also endured great suffering but found strength through the Savior in times of trial.

Rick was the oldest of five siblings: Duane, Jason, Sheila, and Mike.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Debi; his children Natalie (Gary), Nicholas (Morgan), Nolan (Lesli), Douglas (Camille), and Katrina (Parker); his cherished grandchildren Kaylee, Moses, August, Evan, Soren, Beckham, and Elle; his mother, Beverly; and his siblings Duane, Jason, Sheila, and Mike.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Weber.

A memorial service will be held on March 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 65 E Center St., Hyde Park, Utah 84318. All who knew and loved Rick are warmly invited to attend. There will be no viewing or graveside service.

Rick’s family is deeply grateful for the love, kindness, and support shown to Rick and Debi during the final years of his life. His warmth, humor, faith, and stories will be missed by all who knew him.
