Richard Lee Whiteside, 85, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away in his home on November 9, 2025. He was born on April 10, 1940, in Kokomo, Indiana, to parents, Paul Whiteside and Florence (Milner) Whiteside.
Richard graduated from Kokomo High School. Richard served in the United States Army and in the Army Reserves. He worked for General Motors/Delphi in Kokomo for 40 years, retiring as a tool & die engineer.
Richard was an accomplished drummer. He was drum major in high school, played in the army band, and was a member of Larry Kirkman Orchestra. Richard was also a lifelong fisherman, especially enjoying fishing in Michigan, Nyona Lake, Morse Reservoir, and Florida. He loved watching football and basketball, cheering on the Colts, Pacers, and Fever. A devoted family man, Richard loved spending time with and was so proud of his children and always looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Whiteside; children, Michelle (Vince) Barnes and Theresa (Mike) Lockhart; his grandchildren Zachary (Jillian), Benjamin, Meghan (Michael), Emily (Alex), and Katherine; his great grandchildren Olivia, Vincent, and Baby L.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florence (Milner)Whiteside.
Visitation for Richard will be from 11am-12pm on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters) – 4180 Westfield Rd., Westfield, IN 46062, with a funeral service immediately following at 12pm. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery.
