Richard Lee Wilburn, known affectionately as Rich to his friends and family, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Born on January 28, 1948, in Lansing, Michigan, Rich's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and humor.

Rich's early years were spent in Lansing, where he graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1966. His sense of duty led him to serve his country in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany from 1967 to 1968. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant, E5. After his military service, Rich embarked on a long and dedicated career with Meijer, Inc., where he spent 30 years as a semi driver before retiring in 2010.

Rich's life was characterized by his deep love for sports, both as an enthusiastic participant and an avid spectator. His adventurous spirit shone through in the countless trips he took across the United States with his family, exploring the great outdoors through camping and other adventures. His great sense of humor was a source of joy and laughter for all who knew him.

A man of profound faith, Rich was a steadfast member of Grove Bible Church in St. Johns, Michigan, for over 44 years, and later served at Fellowship Greenville, SC, for 8 years. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life, and he lived each day with the love of Jesus at the forefront. Rich was also a proud member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians in Harbor Springs, Michigan.

Rich was a devoted husband to Joyce, with whom he shared almost 55 years, a loving father, and a doting papa. His servant's heart was evident in the way he poured himself into the lives of others, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement. He was a gentle giant whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Elsie (Vincent) Wilburn, his sister Gloria (Fran) Kildee, his brother Shelby Wilburn, and his sister Delores (George) Olger. Rich's legacy lives on through his children; Christopher (Tina) Wilburn, Gregory (Shelli) Wilburn, Charis (Jeff) Larson, Joshua (Jenna) Wilburn, and Jonathan (Megan) Wilburn; his grandchildren, Morgan (Tyler) Stanton, Stone (Tiffany) Wilburn, Chase Wilburn, Noah Wilburn, Randy Wilburn, Miles Wilburn, Cooper Wilburn, Blaise Wilburn, Emery Wilburn, Sophia Wilburn, Raelyn Wilburn, Ella Wilburn, and Clara Wilburn; and his great-grandchildren, Iris, Alistair, and Ephraim Stanton, who will carry forward the values of love and faith that he instilled in them.

Rich was a loving, faith-filled, and friendly man whose impact on the world was as profound as it was gentle. His legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but the memories of his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering spirit will remain a comforting presence to all who were blessed to have known him.
