Richard “Tex” A. Wiley, of Ravenna, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, TX.
Richard was born on January 4, 1943, in Huntsville, Texas, to Thomas and Flora Wiley. In 1965, while training in Pensacola, Florida, he met the love of his life, Judith Walker, with whom he shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2010.
Richard proudly served his country for over 26 years in the United States Navy, both on active duty and in the Naval Reserve, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). Known affectionately as Tex among his fellow service members, he was distinguished as a skilled and respected helicopter pilot. His military career was marked by dedication and bravery, reflected in the numerous honors he received, including:

After retiring from military service, Richard embraced a new chapter of life. He inherited a cattle farm and soon became an enthusiastic entrepreneur, pursuing a variety of projects and developing deep ties within the community. During his 20 years in the Ravenna area, he served as a volunteer firefighter, participated actively in the VFW, and was a dedicated AAA sponsor. He was also a committed member of the NRA. In his free time, Tex enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the peaceful rewards of country living.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Judy. He is survived by his children, KellyMarie Wiley (Richard) Rock and Richard (Terri) Wiley; seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and his cherished pups.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2026, at New Zion Baptist Church, located at 627 Co Rd 1265, Bonham, Texas.
