Richard Wise

Richard Ewing "Rick" Wise Sr. Richard Ewing 'Rick' Wise Sr., 61, passed on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in Warrenton, Virginia. He was born on April 5, 1952, in Maryland, to Thornton L. Wise and Dolores Wells Wise Pare. It's hard to remember a man of so many strengths in such few words. From his service in the United States Army National Guard and Delaware State Police to his 30-year career as a weather specialist for the FAA, his dedication to his nation was overshadowed only by his commitment to his family and community. He took as much pride in teaching his children to cook as he did in feeding the local hungry. He was passionate about providing for Fauquier area food banks, and his campaign exponentially increased the number of families who received meals. Rick was a philosopher, songwriter, musician, world traveler, pastor, advocate and friend. His legacy is evident in the many lives he has touched, never knowing a stranger and always taking the time to talk and listen to others. He was larger than life, with personality to spare. His strong, abiding faith carried him through life. Those he left behind mourn their loss, not his. Rick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Gayle Wise of Bealeton, Virginia; two children, Elizabeth "Annie" Wise of Arlington, Virginia, and Richard Ewing Wise Jr. and his wife, Victoria, of Raleigh, North Carolina; stepmother, Mary Wise of Tampa, Florida; brother, Charles Wise of Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania; and grandson, Raiden James Wise of Raleigh, North Carolina. There will be a celebration of Rick's life on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 10 a.m., at Warrenton United Methodist Church, 341 Church St., Warrenton, VA 20186.
