Richard (Dick) Witmer passed away peacefully July 22, in Wood Village at the age of 85.

Dick was born in Idaho and moved to the Portland area with his mom at a very young age. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1958. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force serving most of his five years in Texas and Alaska.

After his service, Dick decided to go back to civilian life working for Mayflower Farms delivering milk to homes in the Portland-Vancouver area for eight years. The insurance business called him, where he worked for Famers Insurance for 32 years. Dick served for ten years as a reserve deputy for Multnomah County Sherriff's Office. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he headed up the property committee for many years.

He was a member of the Gresham Elks Lodge, where he served in chaplain and trustee positions. One of his highlights was winning the district ritual contest with his team from the Gresham Elks Lodge.

Dick's hobbies included traveling, playing golf, volunteering for both his church and Elks Lodge, along with riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also loved meeting up with friends and enjoying meals out.

Dick is survived by his wife of almost 47 years Georgene, two sons Mark and Ken (Andrea), six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many cousins. Dick is preceded in death by his son Greg, in March of this year.

A service is scheduled at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham, Saturday, August 9 th at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church property needs.
