Richard Dale Wood, age 89 of Brashear, MO passed away, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the Macon Care Center, Macon, MO

Born October 11, 1935 in Marion County, MO the son of Jesse Francis and Myrtle Frances Brower Wood. His mother passed away when he was three years old and his father passed away when he was six. Richard was raised by the aunt and uncle.

On May 27, 1955 in Quincy, IL at the Central Baptist Church he was united in marriage to Rosemary Peak and she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Michael Wood of Brashear, MO and Terrie (Richard) Mountain also of Brashear, MO; six grandchildren, Kayla Mountain, Ryan (Jen) Mountain, Jaimee Mountain, Shaina (Nick) Billington, Adriene (Tom) Foley, Grace (Eliott) Simler and ten great grandchildren, Emillie, Audrey, Ethan, Elliot, Noah, Dean, Cole, Sean, Liam and Madeleine.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Wood and Bill Wood, one sister, Dorothy Latimer; brother in-law, Harold Latimer; one sister-in-law, Mary Wood, an infant sister, Pauline Wood and three nephews, Donald Wood, Robert Latimer and Ronnie Latimer.

Richard attended school in Lewis County and was a graduate of the LaBelle High School. After high school Richard entered into the United States Army. He served his country from 1954 to 1969. He was stationed in North Carolina, Massachusetts, New York, Alaska, Italy, Germany and the Pentagon. Master Sergeant Wood was awarded for meritorious service as Personnel Management Supervisor and Interviewer of the Non-Commissioned Officer, Personnel Actions Division, Enlisted Personnel Directorate and Office of Personnel Operations for the period June 1966 to August 1969. During his military career he was invited to the White House for the inauguration of President Nixon in 1969. He also served in the National Guard.

After his military career Richard was in insurance sales for a few years and raised and sold dogs. He was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Rutledge New Testament Church. His hobbies included the work he did with building things out of wood, hunting, fishing, traveling and collecting antiques. Richard especially enjoyed his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Visitation will also be on Saturday, 1-2 P.M. until the time of the service. Rev. Jim Brown assisted by Robert Neese and Delbert Stoner will officiate the services.

Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Cemetery in Marion Co. Casket bearers will be Richard Mountain, Michael Wood, Steve Peak, Larry Cook and Robert Neese. Honorary bearers will be Jaimee Mountain, Shaina Billington, Adriene Foley, Grace Simler, Kayla Mountain and Ryan Mountain.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Wood may be made to the Bethany Baptist Cemetery and or the Rutledge New Testament Church. The memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
