Charles Pharris Goodwin, age 89 of
Edina, MO passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo.
He was born February 8, 1936, in Knox City, MO the son of Pharris and Edith Mary Gosney Goodwin.
He was united in marriage to Julia May Pape in 1954 and to this union five children were born. On May 14, 1976 he was married to Charlotte Esther (Bevill) Blake and to this union one child was born.
Surviving are his wife Charlotte Goodwin of
Edina, MO, four children Anita Goodwin of Knox City, MO, Karen (Luther) Green of Hurdland, MO, Scott (Nancy) Goodwin of Knox City, MO, and Terrie Jo (Dan) Clary of
Edina, MO, two step children, Rosa (Jimmy) Robertson of Rutledge, MO, and Jamey Blake of
Edina, MO, twenty-three grandchildren, Heather Schrage, Michael Browning, Shawn Goodwin, Jacki Lee, Brandi Green, Julie Green, Anna Sabrina Applegate, Corrina Sells, Andrea Goodwin, Pharris Goodwin, Glen Goodwin, Carrie Phelps, Donnie Pflum, Montana Seibert, Justyn Robertson, Quinn Blake, Kaitlin Blake, Summer Howell, Whitney Thompson, James Duffy, Ethan Clary, Shane Clary and Danika Clary, forty-seven great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and one niece Kimberly Irelan of Leavenworth, KS.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Baby Boy Goodwin and Ronald Goodwin, two sisters, Dora Mae Corrick and Verna Marie Baltzer, one niece Deanna Boerchel, one great grandson Barker Wilcox and two brothers-in-law Clarence Corrick and G.W. Baltzer.
Charles graduated from Edina High School in 1954 and was a self-taught mechanic and jack of all trades. In his early years he was engaged in farming, construction, working for several implements and car dealers in
Knox County and at Cardwell Lumber. He enjoyed his time spent building stock cars for Bill Early. His favorite place he worked for was Punky's Garage. He also owned and operated his own mechanic shops in Edina. At the age of 81 Charles retired from the Farm Shop but he didn't give up working or his hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, helping his children and grandchildren with their building projects, and working his stand at the Colony Flea Market, but his most treasured memories was time spent with his family. He was a member of the Edina First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in
Edina, MO. Pastor Sam Burkholder will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 17th in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in
Edina, MO. Friends may call after 4 p.m. and family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Casket bearers will be Billy Early, David Mitchell, Tom Gibbons, Michael Browning, Glen Goodwin and Shawn Goodwin. Honorary bearers will be Paul Shultz, David Hinds, Howard Florea, Jonah Lewis, Wyatt Browning and Bill Gosney.
