Richard D. Yarolimek

1944 - 2025

Edgerton, WI - Richard D. Yarolimek, age 81, of Edgerton, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in La Farge, WI, on Aug. 8, 1944, son of the late Jerry and Lucille (Wolfe) Yarolimek. Richard was a 1962 graduate of La Farge High School where he was a standout baseball player. Richard married Vicky M. Owen on Sept. 19, 1964, in Viola. He began work at a mink farm but later was able to begin employment at the General Motors plant in Janesville in 1965. He worked as a relief man before he retired. He was a member of the UAW Local 95. Richard was a pitcher when he played baseball, transitioning to shortstop when he played softball. He continued to play well into his late 30's. He was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan; he enjoyed antiquing and helping friends and neighbors with yard work and snow removal, never seeking recognition for his good deeds.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vicky; 2 children, Troy (Deb Broitzman) Yarolimek and Lisa (Marshall Jr.) Matijevich both of Janesville; 5 grandchildren: David (Joy) Yarolimek, Brad (Kate Wilde) Yarolimek, Mark (Hannah) Yarolimek, Ty Matijevich, and Macy Matijevich; great grandson, Luke Yarolimek; and brother, Jerry (Caroline) Yarolimek Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd "Chopper" Yarolimek; and 3 siblings: Theresa Finnegan, Bob Yarolimek, and Ida Stanek.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME, 315 Lord St. (Hwy 51) Edgerton. Pastor Jerry Amstutz will preside, and burial will follow in Fassett Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME.
