Rick Green Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home on Jan. 3, 2026.
James Richard "Rick" Green, 75, of Arkadelphia, went to be with the Lord on January 1st, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with illness.
Rick was born in Bearden on February 13th, 1950, to Gerald Green and Cora Dean "Dean" Green. He was the eldest of three and according to his siblings he embodied that role. He was responsible, a leader, and carried the mantle well when it came to caring for his family. In school, he was the picture of the quintessential high school student: he played football, excelled in his classes, and even won a senior superlative for "Best Dressed". After graduating from high school, he went on to study at Henderson State University to pursue marketing and accounting, in which he earned his bachelor's degree. Rick's time at HSU was not only spent achieving his academic dreams, but also meeting the love of his life, Janet. They married in 1971 and from that moment on, what started with two people soon became a family full of love, laughter, and many, many memories.
To his family who love him so dearly, he was not just Rick, he was "Poppa". He was full of joy, of love, of generosity, and a hardworking spirit to ensure that those he loved were taken care of to the best of his ability. Whether it was helping put kids through college or providing a listening ear, Rick was always eager to be of service and with a smile. Beyond his family, Rick's giving character extended to those he worked with. During his 50-year tenure at Anthony Timberlands and the Bank of Bearden, he wore many hats. His first love was working at the Bank of Bearden. Through the years, caring for the people of Bearden was one of his greatest joys, and he served his childhood community as the President and Chairman of the Board. At Anthony Timberlands Inc., he served as President of Anthony Wood Treating, Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Vice President of ATI, overseeing many operations and departments. In each of these roles, those who worked under and with him knew the depth of his care.
He is preceded by his parents, Gerald Green and Dean Lindsey Green. He is survived by his wife, Janet Butler Green, of 54 years, his loving children: Misty Huneycutt (Chris), Kerri Whitson (David), and Matthew (Julee); his grandchildren Jessica Bond (Sam), Austin Johnston (Destiney), Cole Huneycutt (Laura), Madison Estorga (Gavin), Mallory Whitson, Drew Whitson, and Preslee Turner; his 3 great-grandchildren, his brother Bob Green (Sherrie), sister Monda Blankenship and new special furry friend Annie.
A visitation will be held Monday January, 5 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home located at 155 Section Line Rd. Hot Springs, AR 71913. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM the following day at First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia located at 701 Pine St. Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
As "Poppa" always said, "Make good choices".
In lieu of flowers, we encourage everyone to make a donation to the Salem Cemetery, a place that is dear to Rick, his family, and his final resting place.
