Rick Kopp

Richard Irvin "Rick" Kopp, 81, of Morton, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born April 11, 1944, in Washington, Illinois, to Irvin and Helen (Ebert) Kopp. Rick married Sandra "Sandy" (Maloney) on November 30, 1968 in Peoria. Surviving are his wife, Sandy Kopp; son, Gregory (Dina) Kopp and their son, Asher; daughter, Angela (Jonathan) Hawley and their children, Ellie, Nathan, Isabelle, Kateri (Kent) Roberts and Thomas; son, Jason (Fabiolla) Kopp and their son, Vincent; son, Matthew (Courtney) Kopp and their children, Henry, Hudson and Scarlett; and two sisters, Karen Thrailkill and Judy (Bill) Boring. He was preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Marilyn Kopp. Rick graduated from Washington Community High School in 1962 and attended Midstate College of Commerce majoring in sales and promotion. He served in the 182nd Illinois National Guard from 1965 to 1971. Rick worked at Caterpillar for 42 years retiring in 2006. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a playful grandfather known to his grandkids as "PaPa." Rick had a gentle spirit and quick wit. He was loved by all. When he wasn't spending time with his family, he could be found on the golf course. He also enjoyed boating, camping and vacations with the family. PaPa will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with Father Nick Conner officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. Memorials may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation, Illinois Cancer Care or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
