Rick Leggett, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Rick was born in Burlington, VT on January 13, 1952, to Kenneth & Theresa (Guilbault) Leggett. Rick married the love of his life, Maureen Belval on December 2, 1972, and thoroughly enjoyed 52 years of marriage together. He worked as a Senior Media Supervisor for St. Michaels College and absolutely loved his job and the interaction and relationships he built with the many students, faculty, and staff. Rick truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures and playing lead guitar for all his life in any bands that played throughout VT, NY & NH; as well as CBC/Vibrant Church in South Burlington, VT. Rick also loved and looked forward to his time spent at deer camps and time hunting in the woods with family and friends. Through his love of music and nature, he made numerous lifetime friends and had the ability to reach people in a deep spiritual and positive way through his vibrant personality and talent. He is survived by his wife Maureen who adored and cherished him; a son, Erick Leggett and granddaughter Kendall; a daughter Angela Leggett and grandson Zachary Leggett-Torre and granddaughter Alida Leggett-King. He is survived by a brother, Ron (and Carol) Leggett and their children, John (and Christine) Leggett; Rebecca (and Jordan) Robare; a sister, Rhonda (and Bill) Lozell and her children, Crista (and Eric) Tourville; Jason Bouffard (and Theresa Fano); and, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncle.
Family and friends whose lives Rick touched are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering on Friday, June 7th, at the home of Joel and Robin Danaher, 63 Saxon Hill Road, Essex Junction, VT. 10:00 am to 11:00 am is visitation with the family; 11:00 am to Noon is the Celebration of Life Service ; Noon to 3:00 pm is the reception to enjoy lunch, reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. I'm not sure if it was my first memory because there were quite a few. I remember when he played in Hot Buttered Popcorn while I was going to the Rice high school dances. That would've been 1976 - 1977, I believe. Also, I occasionally bump into him at various Leggett gatherings from funerals, weddings, and other gatherings. He really was a nice friendly guy. Prayers for Maureen and the rest of the Leggett families. Thoughts and prayers to all. May you rest in peace, Ricky.

My very first memory of Rick Legget was my freshman year at SMC on a help desk repair call, I happened to setup the audio-visual equipment before anyone came and he was so surprised that he urged the IT department to allow me to work with him and the next four years I worked with Rick daily in that office. To this day I reference the audio-visual skills I´ve learned from Rick. During college I had a lot of things going on back home, including the stresses of college, I was able to confide in Rick about a lot. It saddens me dearly to not have had the opportunity to reconnect after college and just say thank you to the big guy, but I will never forget to make sure my wires are out the way, where my speakers are placed, and my master level.

I send my deepest condolences to all the family and friends. Rick really was an amazing person that will always be remembered.

Rick was my first supervisor during my Work/Study assignment, in 1999, at Saint Michael's College. He was high-energy, deeply committed to his job in User Support Services, motivating, & he gave me increasing responsibilities during my time working for his department. He trusted me, and I always respected him. Years later, he loaned and donated tech equipment to my classroom. He was extremely supportive. Rest In Peace, Rick.
