SALEM - Rick Jay Lippiatt, aged 71, of Salem, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Salem Regional Medical Center. Born on February 25, 1954, in Salem, he was the son of the late Clarence and Eleanor (Doyle) Lippiatt.
Rick was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1972. Rick took over his family business Lippiatt Floor Covering where he worked for over several decades. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work were evident in the beautiful floors that grace many homes and businesses in the area.
An avid sports enthusiast, Rick was a lifelong supporter of Cleveland's professional teams, cheering on the Cavs, Indians, and Browns through every season. His passion for sports extended to Ohio State. Rick's love for the game was more than just a pastime; it was a way to connect with friends and family, sharing in the highs and lows of each season.
Beyond his professional endeavors and sports fandom, Rick was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a knack for fixing things, earning him the affectionate title of 'Mr. Fix it' among those who knew him. There was no task too small or too complex for Rick, as he found genuine contentment in working with his hands and solving problems.
Family was the cornerstone of Rick's life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Luann Lippiatt (McAfee), whom he married on February 10, 1973. Their love and partnership were a testament to their commitment to one another. Together, they raised a loving family, including their children Christine (Scott Hardin) Lippiatt of Hinckley, Joshua Lippiatt of Atlanta, and Jason Lippiatt of Salem. Rick's role as a grandfather to Greyson and Landon Lippiatt was one he cherished deeply, and his guidance and affection for them knew no bounds.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his immediate family and two brothers, Richard (Nancy) Lippiatt and Paul (Barbara) Lippiatt, both of Salem. His sister-in-law, Sherry Lippiatt of Beloit, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will also hold dear the memories of Rick's warmth and generosity. His presence will be profoundly missed by all.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary Lippiatt and Robert Lippiatt.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Rick Jay Lippiatt will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together and remember a life well-lived.

November 8, 2025

I have been friends with the Lippiatt family for over 20 years and I can honestly say that Rick was one of the good guys. I watched over the years of how he did everything he could to support and love his family and with all his talents at being able to fix anything from remodeling homes putting in new floors, windows and anything that needed done he could do it and he did it for his children. Mary and I had the honor of him building a deck for us this past summer and it turned out beautiful. I had the honor of working beside Rick many days and him teaching me things about construction and building materials. We had a great time. We laughed and told jokes and just enjoy each other`s company. I have to tell you I really truly enjoyed it and I will miss him dearly. He was my friend. Mary and I pray peace upon your family during this difficult time please just try to remember all the great memories you have with him he was one of a kind. We love you guys, Stephen and Mary Shrewsbury.
