Rick “Slick” Madrid was born on October 9, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by his loving family. He was a longtime resident of West Valley City, Utah.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Toni, with whom he shared 40 years together with love, memories, and together built a family that meant everything to him. He leaves behind his children: Lashelle Manriquez (Ruben), Jen Wade, Crystal Larremore (Chino), Allan Gustin, Thomas Madrid (Konnie), and Brandi Alverez.

Rick was a proud grandfather to 25 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his brothers, Alan Madrid (Vanessa) and Steve Madrid (Annette), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Maggie Madrid, and his nephew, Jeremy Madrid.

Known to many as “Slick” and “Los Richard”, Rick had a presence you noticed the second he walked into a room. His favorite greetings, “Yo,” “What up?” and “Yo, where you at?” were usually followed by teasing, laughter, and his classic “Talkin’ sht?”. He lived by the motto, “Better the shame than the pain,” and somehow managed to keep things real while making everyone laugh.

In his younger years, Rick somehow always ended up fixing everyone’s cars. He didn’t like doing it, but he was good at it, and watching him work was always funny. He also loved fishing, golfing, playing Bingo, and watching every episode of Friends.

More than anything, Rick loved his family. He lived for family parties, hanging out with his kids and grandkids, and cheering on his Washington Redskins. If there was music, laughter, and good company, he was always there.

Rick wasn’t just a good man; he was an exceptional one. A husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose humor, voice, and presence filled every room. His absence leaves a space that can’t be replaced, but his legacy lives on through the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
