Obituary published on Legacy.com by William L Danks Funeral Home on Dec. 28, 2025.
Ricky Eugene Nance, 67, died at home December 26, 2025, alongside his loving wife Donna Ramsey Nance. He was born in
Hazard, Kentucky on July 25, 1958, to Charles and Betty Nance. He lived in Viper KY until the family moved to Ohio County in 1969 and although he left the hills of Hazard his heart never did. A part of Rick was always in his mountain home and always will be as part of him will be scattered there at his request. He built a cabin there and visited it many times before his health forced him to sell.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Betty, Father Red, oldest brother Chig, youngest brother Greg as well as his former wife Ann. He sadly leaves behind his wife Donna, daughters Jessika and Ramsey (Chas) and son Zach as well as his beloved grandkids Lennon, Preston and Maggie whom he truly loved and cherished. He also left siblings Rhonda Graham (Cary) of Centertown, Johnny Nance (Sheila), Issy Barker (Mike), and Ralph Nance of Beaver Dam, Nancy Nance of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nephews and nieces.
Rick fought a twenty year plus battle within Parkinson's all while having an extensive cardiac history and managing pain levels from the effects of Parkinson's that were at times unbearable. To have known Rick in our lives was truly a blessing and he will be sadly missed, the world became a little darker that afternoon he left just as it did for him when he lost Ann. The family would like to publicly thank Donna for coming into his life and bringing back his laugh and loving demeanor and taking such great care of him. He had health struggles that many of us thought he would never overcome but somehow always did. He was an avid gun collector and outdoorsman and had just recently began bird hunting again after so many years of being deprived of this love. He's physically not with us anymore but his spirit is as strong as ever witnessed in the sparkle in Donna's eyes when she talks of him; Zach's physical and emotional mannerisms; Maggie's sense of humor; Jessika's smile talking of him; Lennon's perseverance and Preston's love of guns and tinkering with them that Rick was so proud of. I was fortunate enough to spend time with him recently and see him in his element (shooting and gun shows) and it so much reminded me of my brother I haven't seen in many years due to his health. It makes me smile daily thinking of these times and I'll always cherish them. On behalf of Donna, the kids and your brothers and sisters, we love and miss you more than words can say, be peaceful and pain free my brother, we got it from here!
