Rick Russell Schneider passed away on 11/5/25 at Unity Point Hospital in Des Moines, IA after suffering a massive stroke on 11/2/25.

Rick was born May 18, 1966 in Decorah, IA to Russ and Kay Schneider, a young couple who had recently graduated from Luther College. After Russ and Kay made their home in NW Iowa, Rick attended Elementary and Jr. High School at Clay Central in Royal, IA, and High School in Storm Lake, IA. Rick proudly attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO where he studied Broadcasting, tried to embarrass his sister every chance he got, and was a proud member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.

After college, Rick spent a few years in Kansas City (still trying to embarrass his sister), then moved back to Storm Lake for 10 years to help with the family business Buena Vista Glass. Rick then spent his last 18 years living in Des Moines near his son Max. Rick most recently worked as a Supervising Security Officer for Per Mar.

Due to his unexpected passing, Rick left a heartbroken family at the hospital, including his son Max Schneider (Des Moines, IA), parents Russ and Kay Schneider (Rogers, AR), sister Lori Schneider (Belton, MO), niece Shelby (Jordan) Bottiger (King City, MO).

Rick was also a Great Uncle to Rosie (5) and Eli (1) Bottiger, and had many extended family, including a special crew of "Minnesota cousins".

For 59 years of his life, Rick happily embraced his personal mission to make people smile and laugh. Rick also LOVED music & dancing, ISU Cyclones, his family, and cooking (often referring to himself as a "mad scientist" in the kitchen). His love language was "gift giving" and he would literally give anyone the shirt off his back if he thought they needed it.

The immediate family will be privately honoring Rick with various memorial activities.

The family would love to hear any stories or memories of Rick, which are welcomed at: [email protected]

(you may also request address info at this email, if you'd like to send cards)
