Rickey Lynn Kersey, age 72, of Irving, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
He was born on January 13, 1953, in Nashville, Arkansas. He was the son of the Rev. Boyd Dewitt Kersey and Dorotha June Duren Kersey. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Cathie Kersey; his father-in-law, Marvin Lawrence; and his mother-in-law, Cecile Lawrence.
Rickey married the love of his life, Patricia Lawrence, on January 31, 1975 . Rickey and Patricia built a beautiful life together and were the parents to three precious children.
Throughout his life, Rickey’s first priority was serving God and glorifying Him. Rickey accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at 8 years of age and remained a faithful Missionary Landmark Baptist his entire life. He was a founding member of Colonial Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he served as Sunday School teacher and song director.He was a loving husband, cherished father, devoted PaPa, wonderful brother, and an amazing friend. Rickey was a shining light for all around him, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia Kersey; his three children, Ryan Kersey, Kevin Kersey, and Natalie (Stephen) Wisdom; his four grandchildren, Aeris, Seph, Isabella, and Elijah; his sister, Connie Tuggle; nieces and nephews; and loving, extended family members and friends.
The pallbearers will be Kevin Kersey, Ryan Kersey, Stephen Wisdom, Jesse Lawrence, Danny Jackson, and Jason Jackson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Herring officiating.
Visitation will be held an hour prior from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. Mike Cowart officiating.
