Rickey Matheney Obituary
Rickey was born July 19, 1963 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee to the late George Wesley and Betty Love Burchall Matheney. He was a carpenter and dealt in scrap metal. He was an avid fisherman and his favorite time was spent hanging out with family and friends. Rickey will be fondly remembered for never meeting a stranger and alway eager to meet a new friend.
In addition to his parents, Rickey is preceded in death by siblings, Mikey, Greg, Buddy, Emma, Liz and Gail.
Survivors include his five children Tiffany (Jerry) Flores, Jennifer Matheney, Ashley Dawn Matheney, Wesley (Nathashia) Matheney and Peggy Matheney
Girlfriend: Maggie Clark
Step sons: Donnie Clark, Austin (Jenna) Roberts, Kirk (Brandy) Shockley
Grandchildren: Arica, Bailey, Tanner, Nathaniel and Ariel
Seven step-grandchildren
Two sisters: Misty (Gene) Williams and Pat (Rick) Hutchins
Brother: Gary (Pam) Matheney
A host of nieces, nephews also survive
In honor of Rickey's wishes, Hunter Funeral Home has been entrusted with his cremation and a memorial service will be conducted 3:00pm Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The family will receive friends after 2:00pm Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Gene Williams will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583 to help the Matheney family with cremation expenses
