Ricky Dan Beasley, 66, of Abilene, Texas, passed away at his home on May 2, 2025. Born and raised in Texas, Ricky lived more than 40 years in Clyde, Texas, where he graduated from Eula High School in 1977. He spent his life working hard and living even harder. His entire career was dedicated to the oilfield—he spent many years offshore before founding Beasley Drilling Fluids in 1988, a business he proudly operated for decades.
Ricky was a cowboy at heart. A lifelong roper, he loved being around cattle, horses, and wide-open skies. His favorite place on earth was the Frio River, where he made countless memories with family and friends. Ricky was the life of the party, known for his wild spirit, big laugh, and fierce loyalty. He lived life on his own terms and made sure those around him were always having a good time.
Ricky loved his family—especially his grandbabies. His oldest grandson, Rhyder, gave him the nickname “Big Daddy,” which stuck and became the name so many lovingly knew him by. He was our Big Daddy, and we loved him more than he will ever know.
He is survived by his three children: Chelsea Soper of Weatherford and her two children, Maysen and Knox; Kylea Bunn and her husband Cody of Lipan and their children, Rhyder, Corbin, and Cohen; and his son, Evan Beasley of Clyde. He is also survived by his mother, Maurine Beasley of Abilene; his brother, Terry Beasley and wife Sheila; and many other family members and dear friends.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Glynn Dale Beasley, and his grandparents, Floella and Dean Howe.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the laughter he brought, the love he gave, and the wild, unforgettable way he lived.
In the words of our Daddy, “It’s been a helluva party.”
