Ricky Lane Darwin, age 62, passed away on May 21, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Ricky was a lifelong resident of Sylvania, Alabama. Ricky was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, and beloved brother, treasured pawpaw.
Ricky had a deep passion and skill at racing and most anything about cars all his life. Ricky loved the thrill of speed and the community that came with it. He was known for his big personality, strong will, and unforgettable mark he left on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and remembered with much love.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 38 years: Mary Darwin; parents: T.R. and Ruth Ann Darwin; children: Amber (Dustin) Doty and Erik Darwin; grandchildren: Drake Garrison, Maci Doty, and Levi Doty; brothers: Randy (Pam) Darwin, Bobby Darwin, Dr. Brett (Kristina) Darwin, Monty (Pam) Darwin, and Danny (Tonya) Darwin; chosen sisters: Traci Burt and Tammy Dixon; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents: Herman & Manassie Darwin, Hank & Della Leturgez, and Tat Turner; brother: Brian Darwin.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 23, 2025, from W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Trinity (Burnt Church) Cemetery. Officiating is Bro. Tony Myrick. The family will receive friends from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025 and from 10am-2pm, prior to the service, on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Randy Darwin, Bobby Darwin, Brett Darwin, Monty Darwin, Danny Darwin, William Childress, Dylan Darwin, and Luke Darwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Harris and Robin Newsome.
