It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ricky Lee Ishler, 65, who entered into rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 18, 2024.
Ricky was born in Bellefonte on March 31, 1959, to the late Paul E. Ishler and late Thelma Ripka Ishler.
Ricky was a loving brother, uncle, and friend who faced many health challenges with unwavering faith, kindness, and a joyful spirit. Despite lifelong health struggles, Ricky never lost his smile, joy, or love for life and others.
Ricky had a big heart and a gentle soul. His infectious laugh and warm presence made others laugh along with him. He cherished his family deeply and celebrated their victories, both big and small. He loved his nieces and nephews and treasured the moments spent with them. He had a special bond with his great-great niece, Lynnlee, whose presence always lit up his face.
Ricky was especially fond of the Great Grange Fair, where he had tented all his life, and the simple joy of experiencing the beach for the first time at 59. He was also passionate about sports, especially college Penn State Football, and his favorite professional teams: The Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Steelers. Watching games and cheering on his teams was one of the many simple joys he found throughout his life. As well as keeping up with his favorite soap opera, The Young and the Restless.
In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie J. Ishler, and brother, Edwin (Nancy) P. Ishler, along with many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sisters, Faye A. (Gary) Dunklebarger and Nancy S. (Ed) Muth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ricky's life was a beautiful example of love, humility, and resilience. Though we will miss him dearly, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace with Jesus in Heaven.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 200 Ellis Place, State College, PA. A brief graveside service will follow at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, 160 N. Main St, Pleasant Gap, PA to lay Ricky's ashes to rest.
