Ricky Sterling Lyon

Ricky Sterling Lyon, longtime resident of Blanchard, Oklahoma, passed away on July 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 65 years old. Born in Eads, Colorado, on October 17, 1958, Ricky was the son of Russell and Gloria Lyon. He grew up in Colorado Springs with his brothers and sister, and in 1973, the family moved to Moore, Oklahoma. Ricky graduated from Moore High School with the Class of 1976.
Dependable, laid-back, and friendly, Ricky considered everyone he met a friend. He was the kind of guy who would drop anything he was doing to help someone in need. Growing up, he often helped his dad with the family business, Russ Lyon Motor Co. He went on to work for a contractor at Tinker Air Force Base for many years, work he was skilled at and thoroughly enjoyed doing.
Ricky lived on his ten acres in Blanchard for around 35 years. He loved collecting, watching football, and he rarely missed an episode of General Hospital during the week. He also enjoyed watching The Curse of Oak Island and anything on the History Channel. Most of all, Ricky treasured his family and loved spending quality time with the people he loved. He especially enjoyed time with his son and his nephews, all of whom he adored.
His father, Russ Lyon, preceded him in death in 2022. Ricky is survived by his mother, Gloria (Pate) Lyon; his brother, Marty, and his sister, Russenda; his son, Joseph; five nephews, Michael, Justin, Jeremy, Alex, and Chris; and many other loving family and friends. Ricky will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
