Mr. Ricky Lynn Malpass, age 67, of Buffalo, SC, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.
Rick, as his friends called him, was born November 21, 1958 to the late Charles and Bebe Malpass.
Surviving are his children, James Malpass, Jenna Vaughan (Brian), and Keenan Malpass. Ricky also had three beautiful grandchildren, Henry, Ben & Anna Claire Vaughan. He was predeceased by his brother, Danny Ray Malpass and his uncle, Harold Lawson.
To sum up a life in such a short paragraph is perhaps the hardest thing one can do. At one time Ricky could be described as the life of the party. He was funny and at one time didn’t take life too seriously. He loved to take his children camping and fishing. Sometimes that meant sleeping in the woods or in the back yard. Because of him, his kids knew about 80’s Rock. He did his best to make sure his children had happy childhoods. Bringing home puppies and making sure they watch the classic movies. As it does sometimes, life gets hard. At some point he felt it necessary to love from a distance, but he always knew that his kids were taken care of. He did love them. Somehow, he didn’t feel good enough. It took him a long time to realize that he was. If you are reading this and you haven’t spoken to your kids in a while, pick up the phone and call them. Mend the fences and fix the bridges. Every child loves their parents.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service in the Chapel.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Jenna Vaughan, 204 Lakeview Heights, Union, SC.
