MOUNT VERNON – It is with heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of Ricky Pomerleau, at the age of 77. He gladly joined his beloved departed wife, Beth Borgerhoff, on September 15, 2025.

Ricky attended Cony High School and took immense pleasure in class reunions where he regaled his classmates with stories of their countless youthful escapades. He still possessed a box of treasured senior pictures of his high school friends from over the years.

His love and deep knowledge of Maine was unsurpassed. One could always rely on him to provide fun-filled facts and tales of famous and infamous Mainers, along with delightfully fascinating stories of the states' once abundant farms, villages, towns, cities, and their historic buildings.

Ricky was a true believer in the popular saying "There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't met yet." A truly open and accepting person, he could converse with anyone he met and find a meaningful connection that often would last a lifetime. A free spirit, with the kindest heart, he never hesitated to share everything he had with family, friends, or someone in need. On any given day, his warm smile and twinkling blue eyes always conveyed more than a bit of mischievousness, along with warmth, love, and humor.

His life overflowed with music, often created by his multi-talented wife Beth, and their exceptional musician friends who gathered at their home, and together played at events and concerts throughout the state and abroad. One of his greatest musical memories is meeting his favorite artist, Willie Nelson, at a concert and having a photo of the two of them to prove it. He passionately believed that Willie wrote the song, "God's Problem Child," just for him.

In midlife, Ricky met his birth mother, Marjorie Crabtree, and his half-siblings, with whom he developed a meaningful relationship.

Ricky was predeceased by his cherished wife, Elisabeth "Beth" Borgerhoff; his parents Richard Pomerleau and Pauline Bouffard; and his birth mother, Marjorie Crabtree.

He is survived by his son, Raven Butler; his sister, Susan Pomerleau and her husband, John Quinn; his brother, Marc Pomerleau, and his spouse, Curtis Knight; nieces Erin Quinn, and her children; Alyson Quinn and her husband, Dylan Morris, and their children; Breanne Quinn, and her children; nephew, Arthur Borgerhoff; and niece, Cornelia Borgerhoff.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 75 Northern Ave., Augusta, ME on Tuesday, September 23rd, at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta. If you are unable to join us for the service, we ask that you celebrate Ricky's life in your own unique way.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kennebec Land Trust, PO Box 261, Winthrop, Maine O4363, or by visiting their website.
