     Mr. Ricky Dean Puryear, age 72, of Haw River, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home after several months of failing health.

     A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Callie Dean Pugh Puryear and was married for 33 years to Mrs. Melva Carol Parrish Puryear, who survives. He received an Associates Degree in Clinical Biomedical Equipment Technology from Alamance Community College. Ricky was employed with Duke Regional Hospital for over 29 years until his retirement in 2017. He served on the Board of Directors of the N.C. Biomed Association and received “The Isaac Hall Manning Award” for Excellence in Patient Care and was also presented a Duke Medicine Challenge Coin. He was a member of the Haw River Senior Club and enjoyed rebuilding carburetors and restoring his 1977 Ford F250 Truck.

     Mr. Puryear is survived by his wife of the home; his stepson, Walter Shane Adams (Jennifer); and his two granddaughters, Abby Lea Adams and Carly Rae Adams. He was preceded in death by his mother; his stepdaughter, Wendy Michele Justice; half-sister, Karen Puryear; and half-brother, John Peyton Puryear, Jr.

     A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Haw River United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends following the services as well as at other times at the home.
