Ricky "Rick" Joe Ropp, 72, of Idaho, moved on to heaven on March 1, 2026.
Rick was born December 9, 1953, in
Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Carl Ropp and Billie Joan (Blount) Ropp. He grew up in
Dewey, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Dewey High School and was active in scouts and various sports.
Rick received a football scholarship to Sterling College, where he was also on the varsity golf team. He transferred to Oklahoma State University during his sophomore year.
Rick started a summer job at Reda/Schlumberger in manufacturing and, 25 years later, left on his own accord as a Senior Buyer. Rick continued his college education while working.
As an adult, Rick enjoyed anything that had to do with fun-slow pitch softball, golf, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and traveling.
Rick was widowed in his mid-twenties. The one thing lacking in his life was a great wife and family.
In 1997, while on a fishing trip, he met Nancy Todd O'Shaughnessy. When Rick met Nancy, he realized she was the one at the end of the rainbow.
They were married in 1999, and Rick relocated to her home in Minnesota. Rick continued working in the procurement profession, buying and managing various commodities, and retired from IMRIS in 2019.
Rick and Nancy retired to the Idaho Panhandle and became residents of the Stoneridge Golf and Recreation Community.
Their entire marriage was filled with tremendous love and many adventures - drives where they would jump in the car without knowing where they were going, driving 45 miles round trip just to get an ice cream cone, annual vacations with Rick's parents, camping and exploring, and spending recent winters in Florida.
Rick was a member of Eagles Aerie 610, Blanchard Grange, Blanchard Community Center, Stoneridge Golf Club, and the Stoneridge Men's Club.
Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; stepchildren Lisa, Dan, Kevin, and Ryan; step-grandchildren Alex and Kaitlyn; his brother Chris; sister-in-law Cathey; niece Madison and her husband Lukasz; and great-niece Harper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Joan; his first wife, Jean; and her son, Jason.
Memorials may be made in Rick's name to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 West Prairie Ave., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83815.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, 11:00am, in
Dewey, Oklahoma, at First Baptist Church of Dewey, 300 10th Street,
Dewey, OK 74029.
***Luncheon will follow immediately after the service in the church gathering hall, with burial at 2:00pm at the Dewey Cemetery for those who wish to attend.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
