Ricky Smith Obituary

Ricky Smith

Born: January 16, 1962 | Died: October 4, 2025

Don't cry, don't weep, don't make a sound for that's not me lying in that cold ground.

I've gone away to a better place.

Don't look for me here you won't find a trace.

Rejoice and be glad my family and friends.

Remember dear ones this is not the end. I will see you again so don't be sad.

Instead remember the good times we had.

I won't say goodbye, just so long. I will be waiting for you in my brand new home.

Ricky Smith, age 63, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was born in Dayton on January 16, 1962, to the late Chester and Doris Dillard Smith, and spent his life surrounded by family and friends in the community he loved.

Ricky worked for many years as a skilled carpenter and mason with Dillard Construction and later with Robinson Manufacturing. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and helping hands.

Ricky was of the Christian faith and attended the Church of God. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and in his younger years enjoyed playing pool with friends.

He will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, warm heart, and the quiet way he cared for those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Doris Smith, and his brother, Randall Smith.

Ricky is survived by his son, Daniel Smith; step-son, Chris Hood; granddaughter, Kyra Hood; brother, Terry Smith; sisters, Vickie Wolfe and June Hill; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember Ricky.
