Ricky Wright, 65, of Germantown Hills, passed away at 7:35pm Monday, October 13, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born March 9, 1960 in Peoria to the late James R. and Virginia L. Whitehead Wright. He married Betsy McKenzie in 1982; she survives.
Also surviving are their children, Amanda (Drew) VanLaningham and Jerred Wright; his brother, Randy Wright; his extended family including brothers-in-law, Charlie (Natisha) Gingerich, Steve (Nancy) McKenzie, and Karl (Michelle) McKenzie, his nieces, nephews and southern Illinois cousins; and his dog, Lucy.
He was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Donna Lou and his sister-in-law, Lorraine.
Ricky worked 16 years at RP Lumber in Washington, which he enjoyed. He loved making day trips with his family, visiting antique stores to look for treasures, and buying and selling at flea markets. Camping, fishing, and being outdoors were other pastimes. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He was a member of the Pentecostals of Peoria for many years as well.
A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Jeff Lashley will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ARK Animal Shelter in Lacon.
