Rita S. Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Rita S. Brown, of Gilbert, will be 10:00AM Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Christian Fellowship in Winnsboro with Rev. Michael Woods and Rev. Bess Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery near Gilbert under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Winnsboro. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:30PM Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the church.

Mrs. Brown was born July 22, 1947, in Winnsboro, LA and passed from this life on February 6, 2026, in West Monroe, LA at the age of 78. She was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Church for over forty years, and she was an active member of the praise team. She was known as a faithful, Godly, anointed lady who had been blessed with a spiritual gift of healing, who let God heal others using her hands many times. She loved LSU Tiger football, reading, gardening flowers, and taking vacations with her husband, and with friends, Mike and Judy Woods. More than anything she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a sweet, loving person, gentle lady but could also stand firm and say just what she thought when she needed to address a situation. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Estelle Seffens.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Gene Brown of Gilbert; her children, Jane Brown Evans, Gene Brown, Jr. and wife, Kaye, all of Gilbert, Christa Savage and husband, Michael of West Monroe; one brother, Roy Seffens of Fort Necessity; eight grandchildren, Victoria, Allen Michael, Halea, Jonathan, Jake, Nick, Meaghan, and Mabry; also survived by twenty-three great-grandchildren, her fur-baby, "Izzy", and a host of extended family and friends.
