Rita Giordano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fred H McGrath & Son, Inc. - Bronxville on Feb. 7, 2026.
Rita Giordano, nee Iannuzi, passed away on February 7, 2026.

Rita was the proud mother of three children, a homemaker, and avid volunteer. She brought a motherly quality to her volunteer work with kindergarteners at St. Paul the Apostle school, compassion to her work counseling teen age girls at what was then called "a home for unwed mothers," and her profound sense of justice to the fight for low-income housing in Yonkers. She was a lectern at her church where she volunteered for bake sales, Christmas fund raisers, clothing drives, and countless other events.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband Vincent Giordano. She is survived by her three children Teresa Giordano, Joseph Giordano with his spouse Barbara Giordano, and by her youngest, Michele Giordano. In addition, her legacy includes two grandchildren, Mark Giordano and Lauren Hurd with her husband Adam, two great grandchildren Scarlett and Miles, and multiple nieces and nephews with whom she shared life-long mutual love and support. She took great delight in her immediate and extended family. Her Christmas Eve dinners will never be forgotten. She created a late-in-life found family at Sunrise Assisted Living where her sense of humor and kindness delighted residents and staff.

A wake will be held from 3pm to 7pm on Tuesday February 10 at Fred H McGrath & Son, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville New York and Mass will follow on February 11 at 10:45am at St. Joseph's Church, 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville. She will be buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
