MAYSVILLE — Rita Kay Heminger, 67, of Maysville passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at her residence.
Rita was born June 10, 1958, in Maysville to the late Hilda Peed Turner and the late James R. Turner. She and her husband were co-owners of Kentucky Liquor in Maysville, where she was very active in day-to-day operations. She was a graduate of Bracken County High School and a member of St. Patrick Church and at one time was chairperson of the St. Patrick School Scrips fundraising program. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Heminger; her sisters, Janie McCormick of Aberdeen and Pam Trimas and husband Eric of Chelsea, Michigan; sisters-in-law Gail Casselman, Gwyn (Joey) Gallenstein, and Glenda (Jerry) Qualls; nieces and nephews, A.J. McCormick, Dustin McCormick, Rachel Trimas, David Trimas, Kacie Casselman Brown, and Logan Gallenstein; and a host of extended family and close friends.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her daughter Brooklyn Neal Heminger, who passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 24, 2014.
Mass of Christian Burial for Rita Heminger will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at St. Patrick Church with Augustine Aidoo as celebrant. Burial will follow in Maysville Mason County Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Brett McFarland, Caleb McFarland, Norbert Gallenstein, AJ McCormick, Logan Gallenstein and Jerry Ruf.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, or the St. Patrick School Art Department or the Brooklyn Heminger Scholarship Fund c/o MCTC.
