Johantges, Rita May, 93, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her own home on December 3, 2025. Rita was born May 1, 1932, in Wyoming, Ohio, to Joseph and Teresa (Weber) Hollmann. She went to St. James of the Valley grade school and graduated from Mount Notre Dame High School. She married Paul Johantges of Glendale, Ohio, in 1952, who preceded her in death in 2014. She is survived by her 7 children: Terry (John) Westerman, Becky (the late George) Capehart, Jeff (Dawn) Johantges, Beth (Glenn) Riesenberg, Cindy (the late Robert) Hertzel, Jeanne Johantges, and Kate (John) Werner. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Ruth Hollmann Schindler and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her siblings: Sally Walsh, Millie Dean, Marie Burks, Joe Hollmann, and Fred Hollmann. Rita loved her faith which she shared with her family and others. Going to daily mass and praying the rosary were important to her. In her free time she loved puzzling, needlepointing, and watching the Reds and Bengals. Visitation will be at St. Gertrude Church 6543 Miami Ave, Maderia, on Tuesday, December 9th from 8:30AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, 4360 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45242 or Gary Sinise Foundation, Gift Processing Department, PO Box 1858, Merrifield, Virginia 22116-9641.
