Rita Kane Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackman Funeral Home - Whitinsville on Mar. 2, 2026.
Whitinsville- Rita A. (Coffone) Kane, 97, formerly of Border St., passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 15 years, Raymond J. Kane in 1968.

She is survived by her 3 children, Raymond F. Kane and his wife Nadine of Dayville, CT, Patricia K. Rana and her husband John of Worcester, and Linda M. Boll of Millbury; 5 grandchildren, Raymond, Nicole, Eric, Peter, and Matthew, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 4 brothers, Angelo, Ernest, Anthony and William Coffone; her sister, Mary Altomare, and her son-in-law Michael Boll.

Born in Worcester on October 28, 1928, she was the daughter of Italian immigrants Carmine and Elvira (DeSantis) Coffone. She was raised on Franklin Street in Worcester and educated in the Worcester public school system. In 1953, she married Raymond Kane, and shortly thereafter they moved to Whitinsville, where she resided on Border Street for 66 years.

While raising her children, she devoted herself to her role as a homemaker. She later worked as a housekeeper for the former House of Affirmation at the historic Whitin-Lasell Manor. In subsequent years, she was employed in the cafeteria at the Balmer School.

Rita was a selfless and devoted mother who dedicated her life to her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished time spent together during the holidays, particularly Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, when the entire family gathered. She took great pride in her appearance and enjoyed dressing elegantly, complete with her makeup and jewelry. Generous and compassionate, she supported numerous charitable organizations. A woman of deep faith, Rita was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick's Church.

Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her home-health aides, Donna, Darlene and Maribel, for their exceptional care and compassion.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday, March 6th at 11 AM in St. Patrick's Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to Mass in Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville from 9:30-10:30. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's memory may be made to Boy's Town, PO Box 5000, Boys Town, NE 68010.
