Rita Maxberry was born on June 29th, 1960, to the late Mary Edna Davis &
Thomas William Davis Jr in Lexington, KY. Rita accepted Christ at an early age,
and she was a member of First Baptist Church Bracktown until she faced health
challenges that prevented her from coming as often as she would like to come.
She worked at Lexington Clinic for 15 years. She departed this life on
Monday, January 27th, 2025, in Lexington, KY. She was preceded in death by her
parents: Mary Edna Davis, Thomas William Davis Jr, & Oscar Murphy. Siblings:
Thelma Murphy Coles, and Leroy Murphy. Her husband: Leonard Maxberry.
Rita was the life of the party and a joy to be around! She and loved to travel
and adventure and live her life to the fullest! Family was everything to her!
Spending time with her family & friends was her true source of happiness! She was
not afraid to speak her mind when she felt something was wrong. She told you how
she felt and meant what she said, but behind the sternness, it was pure love! Rita
was a beam of light wherever she went, and family was everything to her!
She is survived by her sisters: Cheryl (David) Covington, and Benita Guy,
Carolyn Banks (Chicago, IL), Carol Edwards, and Teresa Murphy (All of Lexington,
KY). Brothers: Larry Murphy, and Michael McNeal. 1 Aunt: Gracie Bell Cox
(Memphis, TN). Best Friend: Lynn Searcy Adams. A host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.

Rita was a kind and generous soul! She was generous with her love for man kind which I received and experienced. Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."

I met Rita during the time of Leonard´s passing. Leonard and I grew up in St Martins Village together.
I am in a group of women that celebrates each other´s birthday. Rita started coming to the birthday parties, so we celebrated hers. Here´s snap shots of Tita enjoying the life God gave her though her body was breaking down. Rita had so much spirit to the end because of her relationship with God the Father, Jesus the Son and The Holy Spirit. Enjoy the memories family. She will always live in your hearts.
