Rita Ann McClain, age 89, passed away on January 18, 2024, joining her son, Bo, on his Heavenly birthday. She was born on June 2, 1934, to the late Henry Ater and Leona (Matson) Ater in Washington Courthouse, OH. Rita was married to the love of her life, Donald O McClain, for 67 years. They first met on a blind date, a story that Rita loved to share, stating that her first impression was, "I'm gonna marry that man!". She worked as a hospital cook for over 30 years, eventually retiring from Children's Hospital. Rita was an avid Bingo player for more than 4 decades, with many friends in the Bingo community. Rita and her husband were devoted parents, who spent their lifetime caring for their sons and raising their granddaughters, Lori and Elizabeth. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald O McClain; sons Donald H McClain (Bo), Danny and Keith McClain; granddaughter, Danielle McClain; siblings, Ronald, Dick, Laura, Mary Lou, Henriette Jane and Patty; niece, Michelle. She is survived by her loving granddaughters: Lori (Todd) McClain-Ziegler and Elizabeth (Jon) Morrow; great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Olivia and Preston Long, Jesse, Harley and Lexi Morrow, Simon and Delilah Ziegler; great-great grandchildren: Sophia, Rain (Bo), Dani Mae and Morgan; brother, Jack; special friend, Kathy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22 from 6-8 PM, at the O.R Woodyard South Chapel, 1346 South High St. and Wednesday January 23 from 12 noon until the time of funeral service at 1 PM. Internment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery, 460 Rowe Road, Lockbourne, Ohio.
