Rita Mary Madeline Moreau, 95, died peacefully February 4, 2026 at the Aroostook House of Comfort with her family by her side. She was born in Caribou, September 3, 1930 the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Michaud) McAtee. She was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was also a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Rita was a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother. She loved to knit and crochet. She enjoyed giving her creations to her family members and friends.
She is survived by her children, David Moreau and his wife Ruth of Woodland, Janet Gagnon and her husband Ronald of Caribou, Donna Thomas and her husband Kurt of Woodland, Claudia St. Peter and her husband Kevin of Caribou, one sister, Alice McAtee of New Hampshire, her beloved grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Thomas, Traci (Ryan) Rogers, Julia Patten & Kyle Burch, Ethan Rossignol, Alyssa St. Peter & Brandon O’Clair and Kelsey St. Peter, ten great-grandchildren, Reece, Ryson, and Rogan Rogers, Kayli and Willow Thomas, Oakley Patten, Jaxson and Quinn Sullivan, Aubrey Rossignol, and Cooper O’Clair, several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by two daughters, Judy Rossignol and husband Allan, and Arthurline Moreau, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 6 to 8PM at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11AM at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Following the service, all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church dining hall. Interment will be in the spring in the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Aroostook House of Comfort for the care and compassion shown to Rita and her family.
